2016 - weddings and couples and love and stuff

It's been an interesting year! 12 months ago I officially added wedding photography to my professional repertoire, seeking out the work rather than merely accepting it when opportunities arose. I signed up to a business boot camp in January, with the brilliant Lisa Jane Photography via Photography Farm, and the fairly life-changing Dare wedding photography workshop in March with Gary Lashmar of Marshal Gray Photography.  What followed was a whirlwind year capturing couples and weddings from London to the south of Spain.

Weddings are all about love (duh) and although it might be a bit cheesy to say it, that really is one of the best things about this job. Being part of such a joyful moment, with friends and family coming together to celebrate. I feel truly honoured to have been a part of this and for being welcomed into the lives of so many warm, funny, creative, generous and genuine people. You know who you are.

The other thing about the job that makes me ecstatically happy is knowing that my photos bring back the joy and emotion of the day long after the confetti has settled and the hangovers have passed. Happy feedback like this makes my world go round:

"Neither of us wanted to waste time posing for photos when we could be having fun with friends and family. Emma understood completely, fitted right in and still managed to get incredible pics. A professional photographer was way down on our list of priorities, but I'm so glad we did. The album is incredible. It is such a special thing to have.” Gemma & Billy, London

Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year!

Here are some of my favourite weddings/couples photos from 2016.

Harry & George - Shoreditch portrait shoot

Harry and George are an awesome young couple who met at school and are just heading off to uni. Harry studies music.. she's a talented musician and songwriter [see her stuff here] and George is doing history. They recently celebrated one year together.

We got together in September for a portrait shoot in east London, making the most of the Indian summer. Seems so long ago now!
