A creative pre-wedding photoshoot at Virginia Water in Surrey | Meghan and Alex

A backlit photo of a couple embracing in the pine woods at Virgina Water, Surrey

Virginia Water in early autumn was a magnificent back drop to this romantic pre-wedding portrait session.

Meghan and Alex, like many of my couples, felt a bit awkward about being photographed and so they chose to meet me before their big day and get a bit of practice in.

It was a wonderful couple of hours. I enjoyed getting to know each other a bit, finding out about their story and their lives. Meghan is a bat expert, and I especially loved hearing about that. Truly, one of the best things about this job is getting to meet really interesting people!

The forecast was a bit rubbish but it turned out lovely and the sun cast a warm, magical glow over the just-turning leaves.

The couple had a beautiful connection, which shone through as they began to relax with the whole being-in-front-of-the-camera thing.

Being a London photographer, I photograph in the city a lot (which I love), but I also absolutely love getting out in nature, and it's not something I've had much opportunity for in the last few years.

I couldn't quite get over how beautiful it all was.

I'm sure their wedding at Lillibrooke Manor will be just as delightful! Can't wait.
