Intimate Islington Town Hall same-sex wedding | Dom & Garvie

grooms hold hands as their guests shower them with confetti at their wedding ceremony exit

There's something genuinely special about intimate weddings, and Dom and Garvie's wedding at Islington Town Hall was exactly that. Their day was all about what matters most – family, love, and those naturally unfolding moments that tell the real story of a wedding day.

What struck me most when I arrived was how comfortable and natural Dom and Garvie were together – exactly what they'd hoped for in their wedding photos.

Mayor's Parlour ceremony

The ceremony itself was in the Mayor's Parlour, and it was deeply moving, with both of their mums delivering heartfelt readings and their dads bearing their rings. After the formalities we made the most of those iconic arched corridors for some couple portraits, the architecture providing a lovely backdrop for a few moments of quiet connection. This relaxed energy is something I always aim for during engagement sessions too.

Then it was outside for the classic Islington Town Hall steps confetti moment.

Reception photography at The Ned

We hopped in a taxi to The Ned, where we captured some more relaxed and natural couple portraits before their guests arrived for drinks on 6th floor terrace and a sit-down meal.

What made this wedding so special was its quiet authenticity. Dom and Garvie created exactly the kind of informal family celebration they envisioned, surrounded by their closest loved ones.

It was truly an honour to document their day. If you're planning your own East London wedding and want photography that captures these authentic, unguarded moments, I'd love to hear about your plans!
