Engagement photoshoot at the Barbican Centre | Emma + Ed

Recently, I had the pleasure of doing an engagement photoshoot at the Barbican Centre with Emma and Ed.

Engagement/pre-wedding photoshoots are a wonderful way for couples to capture their love and excitement before their wedding day. Emma and Ed, being passionate about architecture and art, chose the brutalist loveliness of this iconic location for theirs.

It was a warm summer's evening, perfect for exploring its unique concrete structures, lines, shapes and shadows. At first, the couple were a bit nervous (completely normal). But as we started taking photos and getting to know each other, they relaxed into the experience.

My approach to portrait photography is all about creating the conditions for natural and relaxed imagery. I believe that the best portraits are those where my subjects feel at ease. With Emma and Ed, I wanted to convey their connection and vibe, along with the mood and features of the location.

We had a chat and a laugh as we worked together and explored the Barbican's various nooks and crannies. As the evening progressed and the sun began to set, the gorgeous dusk lighting added an extra touch of magic.

Overall, Emma and Ed’s engagement photoshoot at the Barbican Centre was a fab experience! I love the resulting collection of images, which not only reflected their love for each other but also something of their interests and passions.

As a bonus, we got to know each other ahead of their awesome wedding at 100 Barrington, Brixton.

"Ahh, thank you so, so much for these -- we absolutely love them!! And we're definitely feeling so much more relaxed about the photos on the day -- thanks for making it all feel incredibly easy. "
